2017-18 NBA Awards: One Sentence Predictions

Here are my predictions (one sentence style) for who takes home some individual hardware in 2017-18.

Rookie of the Year

Ben Simmons proves his subpar year at LSU was a result of being miscast, takes the NBA by storm, and takes home this award Blake Griffin style. (He's TECHNICALLY a rookie)

Most Improved Player

Justise Winslow finally shows off an improved offensive game, continues to dominate defensively, and lives up to his hype from pre-draft 2015 by coming back stronger from injury to win MIP. (This one is a bit out there, but I'm a Heat fan. It's mostly a hope.)

Defensive Player of the Year

Rudy Gobert is angry that Gordon Hayward left, and he uses that to somehow get even better on defense, keep the Jazz afloat, and swat away the competition for this award.

Sixth Man of the Year

Andre Iguodala finally gets recognition for his unselfish play after his relegation to the bench three seasons ago.

Coach of the Year

Brett Brown gets his redemption after so many years of losing by leading the Sixers to a top-6 seed in the East and bringing home this award.

MVP

Kevin Durant is the best player on the best team which is enough to win him his second MVP this year because of (slightly) down seasons from Westbrook, Harden, and LeBron.
